Over the last few weeks the FLs have completed Emotional Intelligence training, providing us with a fantastic opportunity to learn more about ourselves. Peter Wakeling, a fellow Finance FL, has provided an overview of the training below…
Last week we participated in a 2 day Emotional Intelligence course at the Marriott with the rest of the FLDP cohort. For the 2 days, we were randomly assigned to tables of about 10 people which gave us the opportunity to spend time with FLs we didn’t know so well.
Prior to the training, we had completed 2 questionnaires which allowed the organisers of the course to profile us individually, and feedback on areas in which we can develop. Once we’d digested our results, we had 1-to-1 sessions with people on our table to discuss the results – this involved being brutally honest about yourself and was a real eye opener – lots of feelings being thrown around…weird! This was very much a “you get out what you put in” event, and everyone went in with a very open mind so it was a great success. Plus the lunch was pretty incredible – not the usual sandwiches you get at 1CP!
After 2 long (emotional) days, we got more feedback from our peers on one area of development and one thing they value about us. This was a really rewarding activity as we’d gotten to know one-another very well over the course of the 2 days.
