1. How much will I be paid?
You will receive a weekly amount which is highly competitive.
2. If I’m successful, when will I start the Internship?
The Barclays Summer Internship starts at the end of June 2009.
3. How long does the Internship last?
Our Summer Internship Programme lasts eight weeks.
4. I’m not a penultimate year student. Can I still apply?
Yes, but you must be able to join one of our graduate programmes the following year.
5. What provisions do you make for graduates with a disability?
We judge applicants on their ability and nothing else, and we work hard to help those with disabilities as much as possible. There’s a section on the application form where you can tell us if you need special help at any stage of the recruitment process. Please contact us to find out more. Email us at barclays.graduates@reed.co.uk or call our Graduate Hotline on 0845 241 4936.
6. What’s the closing date for applications?
The application deadline is February 13th 2009. However, recruitment closes as places are filled so apply early as places fill up fast.
7. Can I start my online application form and then come back to it later?
Yes – but we will expect you to complete your application form within one week.
8. Can I get a paper copy of the application form?
Yes, but we’d rather you applied online if possible as online applications are received and processed faster. However, we can send you a paper form in exceptional circumstances and this won’t harm your application. Call the Graduate Recruitment hotline on 0845 241 4936 to ask for a paper or Braille form.
9. Where am I likely to be based?
We have offices and branches all over the UK. However, most internship roles are based at our Global HQ in Canary Wharf, London.
10. What support will I receive?
Lots. As soon as you join we’ll assign you a buddy to help you find your feet and offer advice throughout the programme.
11. What qualifications do I need to apply?
You should have, or be heading towards, a 2:1 degree in any discipline.
12. I need a work permit to work in the UK. Can I still apply to the scheme?
You’ll need a UK work permit. However, if you have a student visa for the UK you are allowed to work during your holidays and we welcome your application.
13. Can I get hold of a copy of the brochure?
This year we do not have a brochure – all information is held on our website.
14. Do you reimburse expenses run up during the recruitment process?
Yes, we reimburse reasonable expenses up to £50 (supported by receipts). In exceptional circumstances we might pay higher expenses, but you must contact barclays.graduates@reed.co.uk for authorisation.
