The Retail and Business Banking Leadership Programme

This multi-faceted programme offers far-reaching business experience and detailed customer insights to set you up for life at the top of the retail banking world. Structured around a series of purposely diverse placements, it’s designed to give you a really good, broad grounding in RBB.

To begin with, we don’t so much throw you in at the deep end as at the front end, with early exposure to customer-facing roles showing you exactly what we do and who we do it for. You’ll have extensive contact with customers including business clients as you work on initiatives to improve our products, services and communications. Along the way, you’ll manage people, drive change and make key strategic decisions as you take the lead on various mission-critical projects. And you’ll have every opportunity to explore and experience the truly international elements of our business.

During your programme you’ll go on to build a wealth of commercial and customer experience as your influence grows. In the course of the two-year programme, you could find yourself:

• Driving the development of new products and services, from analysis of the initial business case through to design and delivery
• Taking ownership of a customer recruitment channel (such as the branch network or online and offline campaigns) to drive development and performance
• Working with countries in Europe and Africa to ensure that customer experience initiatives are on track and aligned to our overall objectives of creating a distinct identity in these markets
• Managing your own portfolio of customers as a Business Banking Relationship Manager
• Developing new ways to process card transactions, whether from terminals in branches or through our in-house e-commerce payment engine
• Working as a Commercial Manager in our global commercial payments division
