“Hi, I’m Christina. I went to Cambridge studying chemistry, and I’m on the Credit Risk Graduate Scheme.
My business area is responsible for delivering credit re-strategy to the market. There are three areas to this, project management, project development and quality control. I have to talk to the credit risk business and find out their project priorities, as well as liaising with the other areas such as Technology and Sourcing. We’re also responsible for budgets, challenges, opportunities and other things that come up in credit risk.

I’ve been exposed to a lot of things during my rotation. In the first half of my first placement I was working on the global commercial payments small change pipe line. As I was working on projects end-to-end, I did a lot of negotiating with different stakeholders, and worked across different areas in the business.

In the second half of my placement, I was moved onto the financial side where I was involved in budgeting and cross-tracking – during this time, I got lots of exposure to cross challenges. In my new placement, I’ve moved into test governance, where I get exposure to the governance behind tests and preparing different areas for audits, as well as implementing new systems to increase control.

As a graduate with Barclays, you’re given a good opportunity to go into the business and make your mark. I’ve been given the chance to work on exciting projects, with people who are ahead of their game.

One of the highlights for me was towards the end of my first placement. I’d just moved to the financial side of Credit Risk Delivery, and got to run the cross tracking process for a month. This was really exciting and involved a lot of responsibility.”
